Upon entering Homoactive.tv, I'm told to "turn on, tune in and get off." How very retro, although it sounds pretty good to me. Homoactive.tv is yet another archive of gay porn DVD on demand and this one seems to be focused primarily on smaller studios with a twink-centric film base. If that's your thing, you're going to be a happy camper.
The layout of Homoactive.tv is fairly simple and pretty ideal for what I've come to expect from a video on demand network. With an archive of more than 800 DVDs to choose from, the main thing a member is gonna crave here (other than hot porn to spank to, of course) is search features, and Homoactive.tv is serving that up quite well. On the main page, the layout is divided between new releases, best sellers and featured videos. On your right, you have the latest release followed by the top 20 movies. But it's your search mechanism on the left-hand side of the page that I really like.
Members can do a cold search, select a director, a studio, or a keyword – the keyword function is pretty detailed, too. You can use the drop-down to browse the basics (Dildo, Twinks, Bareback, Jocks or Gang Bang, for example) but it goes as in-depth as Cock Ring, Police Men, Blindfold, Ball Sucking and Hot Wax. There's even a keyword search for Skinheads – seriously?
If that wasn't enough, categories are further broken down by Special Deals, 18-21, Studs, Muscle, Fetish, Extreme and more – some even go as far as dividing between American and European content. I have to say, if you can't find precisely what you want with all of that, you're just too damn picky. The DVDs featured, upon further investigation, seem to be much more than twink movies. There's a large amount of fetish here, from pissing to foot fetish, and there's also a nice selection of muscle studs, hunks, jocks, sk8ter boys, Latins and Asians.
As I've said, Homoactive.tv has more than 800 DVDs to choose from. The updates are undated, but frequent – it seems they update at least every other day, if not daily at times. The videos themselves are Flash streaming only – no downloads here – but the quality is outstanding. Full DVDs are available to watch in low or high resolution, and the hi-res is definitely DVD quality. The scene jump on the streaming video is fast and seamless and I'm really impressed with the full-screen quality.
Homoactive.tv works on credit basis, which means the more credits you buy, the more you can watch. Most videos seem to be around $0.29-$0.39 per minute, but you can always check out their special deals for videos as cheap as $0.12-$0.15 per minute. Your credit balance is always helpfully displayed, no matter what page you're on. The best deal here seems to be to buy in bulk – for example, if you spend $99, you actually get $120 minutes of credit. If only Wal-Mart were as sexy.
Overall, Homoactive.tv is a good choice for people looking to peruse some porn occasionally. If you aren't willing to spend the dough on a monthly membership to a paysite, VOD sites can be a great find; however, these pay-per-minute sites can become pricey for the non-casual porn viewer. But if VOD is your aim, Homoactive.tv has a large selection of DVDs, great search features and excellent quality.
