Although this is classified as a nude photography website, Root is no softcore snooze fest. While there is a level of soft content, the scale quickly moves to scorchingly hard with threeways, insertions, cumshots, up close anal and more. The content at Explicite Art really sucks you in, and it's not just because these European women are gorgeous as hell.  There's just something about the quality of this footage that sets it apart from other sites – even apart from other nude photography sites with comparable technical features. The level of artistry and eroticism that Root puts into his shoots is beyond arousing.  Even with fisting, massive dildos and cum facials galore, this site manages to discern between raw smut and pure seduction, creating jaw dropping scenes that will make you crave more.

To date, Explicite Art has 1,167 videos and 76,731 images in their collection. The quality is, simply put, stunning.  Videos run an average of 8 or 9 minutes and are available to download in a number of formats: DivX, MPEG, Quicktime, Windows Media Player or iPod. I am a little disappointed that there is no streaming video option, although I suppose with such short videos, it's not too big of a problem. However, it would be nice to have and it's a little surprising, considering all the other capabilities on the site.  These videos come in a maximum resolution of 1280x720 HD and with a director like Root behind the camera, you can't be disappointed. Root knows what he's doing, shooting with skill and an artistic eye, so the quality becomes even that much better to enjoy.  It should be mentioned that their HD content has only been added within the past year or so, so many of the videos are only available in 720x576 resolution – which is, regardless, still great, although not as clear.

The pictures at Explicite Art are truly incredible.  Each photo shoot contains at least 100 images, but usually more, and they are fantastic. You can download each set as a zip file or view them in three different sizes. The photo sizes run small (400x600), large (1200x1800) and an impressive x-large 4000x6000, so crisp and clear that you can count the freckles on the shoulders and nose of these gorgeous European babes.

Explicite-Art.com is a pretty well organized site. I didn't find it too difficult to browse through this massive collection.  Videos, photos, models and film titles are all sortable with your top navigation menu, or you can use the search box to browse by girl, film title or sexual activity.  Content can be separated and listed by date added, rank and name, or you can just spend your time clicking through their Team's Choice or Members' Top 50 recommendations. One nitpick I have is that some of the videos are split into two parts, but these parts aren't linked. Because you can't sort by scene title (only film title), it makes it difficult to find, for instance "The Couch 2/2" after viewing "The Couch 1/2." A simple link to the second part at the bottom of the scene description would solve this problem.  One extra I found to be pretty handy, though, was their thermometer – with every scene, there's a temperature gauge that ranges from soft to XXX, letting you know just how steamy the content becomes. Kind of nice for softcore or hardcore diehards.

I have a few small complaints, of course. I'm not a fan of music in my porn (it always makes me think of cheesy 70s bow-chicka-bow-wow) and nearly every video on Explicite Art is set to music. It's a little distracting at times, and I think it would be even if you don't dislike it as much as I do.  I also feel that this page would take a long time to load for slower computers. However, these are minor problems.  The bottom line is that Explicite Art is one of the best erotic websites I've come across in a while and it's not very surprising to me that John B. Root is so acclaimed.  If you're tired of the same old, same old and you want to see some quality erotic content where as much effort is put into the smut as into the art behind it, you'll love this site.
